Hello You Thinlits Card

Posted On: 14. 09. 15

It may seem like I have been on a bit of an anti stamping binge lately, but the truth is that I have been outside enjoying summer and when I did come in to stamp, I wanted to complete my projects quickly. I am playing catch up with you all here, so that you can see what I was creating over the summer months.  Not much time to blog when the kiddos (and I) wanted to go to the beach.  I did still teach classes over the summer and most of the cards you will see in the next few blog posts will be about those cards.

Hello You Thinlits

It is a rainy fall day here and my hubby took the kids to go ice skating, for real!! It was a quick transition to winter sports for my family. LOL Our youngest is starting to play hockey in a month or so and we want to make sure his skating skills are on point.  We have a terrific wellness centre in this area and we take full advantage of it .

On to my Hello You thinlit card.  Isn’t it cute?  The Hello You thinlits are a set of three words; hello, thanks and you, that you use with your Big Shot.  They also coordinate with the Crazy About You stamp set – also available in wood mount and photopolymer.  I chose to use the Papillion Potpourri stamp set and stamp a butterfly repeated on on the background paper in Basic Black ink. I am using some Irresistibly Yours paper that is retired, but you can get the same effect with the Colour Me Irresistible Designer Series Paper.

I then sponged Pink Pirouette ink all over the background paper to soften the black butterflies and to colour the paper, as it was originally white.

I added a strip of White Satin Ribbon, punched out a Bitty Butterfly and an Elegant Butterfly and  layered them together, with Pearls as an embellishment on the body of the butterfly.

Cardstocks used are: Pink Pirouette, Basic Black and you can substitute the Colour Me Irresistible as your background paper.

Designer Series Paper Purse / Tote

Posted On: 13. 09. 15

I recently taught a class on how to make a super cute Designer Series Paper (DSP) Purse.  We filled them with chocolate treats, a matching pen, a covered journal, a package of tissues, a small pad of sticky notes and a set of matching greeting cards.

Designer Series Paper Purse - Real Red

Each tote bag measures approx. 9.5″ high (including the handles), 6″ to the top of the actual bag and 7″ x 3″ around. These are hefty and you can stuff a lot more things in them than you can possibly imagine. We used a lot of retired DSP, ribbon and brads that I had in my crafter’s hoard.  Don’t judge me, I know you have one too.  😉

Basic tools you will need to make the Designer Series Paper Purse are a paper trimmer,  a simply scored scoring tool, a handheld scallop punch, a strong adhesive like tear tape, a paper piercing tool, a corner rounder punch and a stampin’ pierce mat.

The journal was created by purchasing a generic small paper notebook at the $Store.  The size of your journal will determine the size of the card stock required to cover it.  I stamped my own cover by stamping a small flower image from the Petite Petal stamp set and embellishing with ribbon, a small flower and rhinestone, plus a sentiment.

The fun thing about this project was that everyone went home with a completely different project, as each person chose a different colour for the base and coordinating DSP.

I have all the directions on a Word document.  If you would like a copy, you will receive it free, via email, with a $35 dollar purchase from my online store.  Just be sure to sign in and choose me as your demonstrator. Thanks and happy shopping!

Sale-a-bration ~ Big Day Stamp Set

Posted On: 01. 03. 15

WMTopNoteHB_3-001

I have to give a shout out and credit to the lovely and uber talented, Tamara Overbeek, for the design of this stylish card.  I  CASED a card of hers that she posted online. 🙂  Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

In fact, I loved it so much I made several, in different colours.  Here they are in  Island Indigo, Daffodil Delight and Strawberry Slush. To add colour to the line art stamps, I simply coloured them in with the matching markers, II, DD and SS. Isn’t that quick and easy?  Designer Series Paper from the All Abloom DSP Stack is cut out with the Top Note Die, for the bottom layer. I always, always, always, use Stampin’ Up Whisper White cardstock to stamp on. Did you know that it used to be called Ultrasmooth white?  It has a silky smooth texture and ink dries on it like a dream, quickly and without smearing. My black ink is Memento Tuxedo Black which dries quickly, is fade resistant and acid free.

I punched out the ice cream stamp and a matching tag, layered them and used Linen Thread to tie them to the card. ( Note: the punch I used is now retired but you could easily swap out another punch, like the Scallop Oval or the Decorative Label).  As an added bonus, the linen thread coordinates with the Crumb Cake base layer.

I  hope you like these cards.  Thanks again to Tamara! Remember to inspire, create and share!

Just dropping by to say ‘Hi!’

WMHiCard-001

This card embraces a trend right now to highlight white space and not fill up every space on the card with embellishments, stamping or embossing.  This technique keeps things simple and clean, a look that really appeals to me.  What do you think of this card?

There is very little stamping, in fact, only one stamp was used from the Gorgeous Grunge Stamp Set.  Stamp that one striped stamp in black then add three pieces of coordinating Sweet Sadie Washi Tape.  The Hi Bubble was created with two sets of dies, Chalk Talk Framelits dies and the Little Letters Thinlits, along with your trusty Big Shot machine.  A few other accessories used were the Bitty Butterfly Punch, Basic Gray Baker’s Twine and Rhinestone Basic Jewels.

Let me know if you recreate this card or a version of this card. I would love to hear from you.

Leadership – Swap 2

Posted On: 29. 01. 15

WMSwap1-001I am here, Leadership 2015! I am having a blast and sharing my second swap with you.  This card features the Sale-a-bration stamp set, Big Day, that you can earn for FREE when you place a $60 (before shipping and tax) order with me.

I love designer series paper when I am crafting in a time crunch.  These mini papers are 4.5″ x 6.5″, which is great for scrapbook layering 4″ x 6″ pictures. I used papers from the Moonlight Paper Stack for this Celebrate card.  Key colours in this card are Smoky Slate and Blackberry Bliss, plus Blackberry Bliss ribbon.

Wisteria Wonder Birthday

Posted On: 25. 01. 15

WMwisteria-001Hello again, it has been too long since I have been here.  Christmas and New Years were terrific and have left us with lots of fantastic memories to scrapbook.  I hope your holiday season was as loving, peaceful and full of love, as can be.

I am changing gears and thinking ahead.  I have been creating a stash of cards to send to friends and family throughout the year.  I began with this birthday card.  Thanks to Heather Owens for the inspiration.  My card is based on a shoebox swap of Heather’s that we created last year.  It was gorgeous, as all her cards are.

Key items needed to create this card are:

Wisteria Wonder Cardstock

Love and Sympathy Wood Stamp Set

Petite Pairs Wood Stamp Set

Wisteria Wonder  Stampin’ Write Set of Markers

Always Artichoke Stampin’ Write Set of Markers

Wood Grain Embossing Folder

Remember to inspire, create and share! Happy Stamping….
